Below is the video of the presentation delivered during the online seminar held on Monday, 15 June 2026, entitled:
“Financing Needs and Funding Sources for Collaborative Organisations”
The speaker was Dr Giorgos Alexopoulos of the Agricultural University of Athens and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the People’s University of Social and Solidarity Economy, “UnivSSE Coop”.
He initially highlighted the need for collaborative organisations to increase their visibility among investors, the main challenges they face, their financial and broader operational needs, and the barriers that prevent them from accessing finance. He also presented findings from relevant field research.
Among other topics, he discussed in greater detail the reasons why investors may be reluctant to finance Social and Solidarity Economy organisations, the different stages at which such organisations may require funding, the available financial resources and funding providers, and cooperative financing solutions. He also referred to ideas and practices from abroad, such as socially responsible public procurement, which have proven effective.
