A programme by the People’s University of Social and Solidarity Economy, broadcast on Tuesday, 17 May 2016 on FM 100.6, Thessaloniki’s municipal volunteer radio station, on the topic:
“Distance, Participation and the Impact of Cooperative and Voluntary Initiatives”
The programme discussed the phenomenon of “distance” observed within cooperative organisations, drawing on research and examples from Greece and abroad. It examined how this phenomenon relates to the ancient institution of ostracism and how it can be addressed.
The discussion also explored why “holistic” participation plays an important role in collective action and how it is connected with the concept of active engagement, as well as why dialogue among voluntary initiatives is more relevant than ever.
