UrbanDig Adrianio develops an interdisciplinary methodology that combines artistic creation, environmental awareness, participatory design, and civic engagement around the Hadrian’s Aqueduct and the urban landscapes connected to it.
Cultural activation
The initiative uses artistic interventions, performances, storytelling, festivals, and performative guided tours to reveal the invisible history and cultural significance of the Hadrian’s Aqueduct and reconnect citizens with local heritage and public space.
Community participation
Through participatory workshops, sensory mapping walks, co-design activities, and citizen engagement methodologies such as “Walkers on Water”, the project strengthens collaboration between residents, schools, municipalities, NGOs, artists, and local stakeholders.
Education and environmental awareness
UrbanDig Adrianio develops educational programmes, gamified dialogue tools, workshops, and school activities focused on environmental education, water heritage, local identity, climate awareness, and sustainable urban futures.
Sustainable urban regeneration
The project promotes innovative approaches to public space activation and climate resilient urban development by connecting cultural heritage, water resources, environmental sustainability, and participatory planning processes.
Through local, national, and European collaborations, UrbanDig Adrianio creates new models for heritage-driven urban innovation and community-led regeneration.
Involved partners
Ohi Pezoume Non-Profit Organisation (UrbanDig Project), municipalities, schools, NGOs, artists, researchers, local communities, cultural organisations, and European partners from Greece, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
The initiative has collaborated through programmes such as Erasmus+, Urban Innovative Actions (UIA), EEA Grants, STARTS, as well as projects supported by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and local authorities.

Next steps
UrbanDig Adrianio will continue expanding its participatory methodologies, educational tools, and artistic interventions across neighborhoods connected to the Hadrian’s Aqueduct. The initiative also aims to strengthen collaborations with municipalities, educational institutions, cultural organisations, and European networks working on sustainable urban development, cultural heritage, climate resilience, water-sensitive urban planning, and community participation. Through future projects and partnerships, UrbanDig Adrianio seeks to further establish the Hadrian’s Aqueduct as a shared cultural and environmental resource while promoting transferable models of participatory and heritage-driven urban regeneration across Europe.
