A programme by the People’s University of Social and Solidarity Economy, broadcast on Tuesday, 19 January 2016 on FM 100.6, Thessaloniki’s municipal volunteer radio station, on the topic:
“Collective Initiatives, Individual Attitudes and the Economy”
The programme discussed whether there are different ways of understanding the economy and development. It explored whether the economy and development are processes independent of individual agency, given that people are embedded in social networks, and, if not, how they might be understood differently.
The discussion also examined how reframing the concept of the economy could contribute to changes in individuals’ everyday attitudes and whether such changes could lead to the development of collective initiatives that generate alternative forms of economic activity, beginning at the local level.
